Magnificent Doheny Gardens

4 Oct

Sometimes viewing a grand estate is all it takes to get my creative juices flowing.  Greystone Mansion, also known as the Doheny Estate, delivers.  It was built by Edward Doheny, an oil magnate in the early 1900s, for his son and daughter-in-law.  This beautiful property is located in Beverly Hills, California.

The gates open onto a winding drive that takes you up a hill...

Greystone's reflection pool is a quiet place to relax and think...

The fountain at Greystone is now filled with plants...

The path through the allee is paved with beautiful flagstone tilesPhotos via Friends of Greystone Mansion at: www.greystonemansion.org

“Relax Awhile”, Gurgles This Fountain

Spa Fountains and Water GardensGarden fountains are therapeutic, in the same lulling way as water gardens and spa fountains. Have you noticed how they seem to instantly lower your blood pressure? They transfix you while their splashing and sloshing draw out tumbled thoughts, washing them into the basin to swim with cares shed by others until eventually they all evaporate under a warm sun.
